| Communication Network Lab | O Yeong-whan | Since 198x, the Communication Network Lab has implemented researches on standardization and actual construction of wireless network and optical network, network security and medical information systems, including other various fields. Carrying out the studies related to network reliability and network elements reliability, all the members, including professors and students in master and doctoral courses, are devoting themselves to researches. Currently, there are 16 enrolled students in the graduate course, implementing relevant researches in their own major. And we have produced 3 graduates from doctoral course, including 36 graduates from master's course. The graduates from doctoral course are working hard to train upcoming generation, and the graduate from master's course are working in government-sponsored research centers, contributing to the development of network technologies in this country. | Signal Processing Lab | Gang Cheol-ho | This lab has been carrying out the studies on speaker recognition, speech recognition and voice synthesis in the fields of speech signal processing.Playing a pivot role in leading the SITRC of Kwangwoon University, the lab is implementing the 'Intelligent terminal Voice portal site Development' projects, including the construction of cutting-edge speech interface. The goal of our lab is to cultivate actual job performance that is needed for speech-based system by acquiring theoretical knowledge concerning speech recognition and speaker recognition. Especially, we are carrying out vigorous researches through industrial-academic link with Korea Power Voice Co., Ltd, a venture company. Most of graduates have found a position in enterprises of research centers related to communication signal processing, such as Samsung Electronics, LG electronics and KETI. And they are playing role as an experts faithfully based on what they have learned from the lab. There are some graduates working as a teacher. | Image Processing lab | Go Hyeong-wha | Since 1987, the Image Processing Lab has studied on development and standardization various next generation algorithm related to still image and video compression. And also, we have been carrying out broad rage of researches character recognition and face recognition. The researches focus on development of technologies that enables actual materialization through joint R&D with business, as well as theoretical studies. We have produced about 40 masters and doctors so far, and 10 researchers are carrying out vigorous researches related to the fields. Most of graduates have found a position in the government-sponsored research centers(including ETRI), domestic conglomerates(Samsung Electronics, LG and so on). Some of them are working as professors in colleges. Location: Room 813 True Light Building Contact:02-940-513 |
| Computer Communication Lab | Jeong Gwang-su | School of Electronics Engineering Kwangwoon University Computer Communication LAB.- Computer Communications - Internet Protocols and QoS Mechanism - Streaming Protocols over Wired/Wireless Networks - Distributed Processing and Computing - Multimedia Communications - High Speed Network and Applications Location: Room 809 True Light Building Contact:02-940-5134 |
| Optical Communication Lab | Jeong Yeong-cheol | The Optical Communication Lab started under the instruction of Professor Jeong Yeong-cheol in 1993. The study field of this lab includes optical communication network devices and optical communication system/network. Location: Room 712 True Light Building Contact:02-940-5138 |
| Real-time Architecture Lab | Jeong Yong-jin | The study goal of this lab has been mainly the ASIC design under instruction of Professor Jeong Yong-jin. We have designed the standard block cipher algorithm used home and abroad, including the integrated block of crypto chip used for HASH operation. And also, we have completed the design of cipher chip used for RSA and ECC cihper algorithm operation, which have come fore as the next generation Encryption Standard. We are now working on Network Processor that is used for TCP/IP data processing. And we are designing image processing chip that will be used for H.264 image processing. And we have established an environment where designed IPs may be verified by retaining the embedded system for SoC design. so that we can carry out studies to accord with the SoC that receives attention currently. Anybody, who is interested in crypto-processor design, image processing and network processor design, and Soc, will be welcomed to our lab. | Communication Protocol Lab | Min Sang-won | The Communication Protocol Lab (CPE) opened the door for first time in 1999 under instruction of Professor Min Sang-won. This lab is affiliated to the Department of Electronics & Communications Engineering at Kwangwoon University. The lab, which 2 students in doctoral course and 6 students in master's course belong to, is located in Room 808 True Light Building. In the homelike atmosphere, the members are sharing their interests and information through workshops by seasons. And we are promoting friendship through sports and other activities. The members are able to acquire network technologies used in the past and present time, including the overall knowledge about technologies that will develop in the future. And also, we can focus on studies related to personal interests. After graduation, the graduates find a position in research centers, conglomerates, and promising small and mid-sized businesses such as, including KETI, Samsung, LG, Hanaro Communication, Moda Information Communication, including other network fields.
