The Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering, which is considered to be the representative department providing cutting-edge technology education at Kwangwoon University, has carrying out the education and R&D focused on core technologies in electronic communication fields, so that a lot of essential technical professionals may have been trained.

The electronic communication industry is a core information communication industry in which exchange, transmission, digital signal processing and system software are combined together, and it may be regarded as an integration of cutting-edge engineering technology that will lead the future advanced industry in this country. Especially, the special feature of this field is that the engineering has the high-level technology intensity and the technological innovation is delivered so quickly. And the technology is leading the industrial development of the country through integration with other industrial technologies.

Our department puts emphasis on rational and future-oriented thinking that goes with the globalization and informatization era, along with professional technology education in electronic communication fields. In order to mee the demand, the operation of our department is focused on the balance between theory and design education, making job-site friendly experiment and practice compulsory, construction of computer simulation and design environment, expansion of project-oriented in-depth education for fostering the ability to find creative technology, In the graduate school of department, the studies are carried out on various fields such as computer system, next generation Internet, computer network, wire and wireless communication system, speech and image signal processing, optical communication system, integrated circuit design.

As for the member in the department, 13 full-time professors, 100 students in each grade of undergraduate school, and about 40 students of graduate school are devoting themselves to studies and school works. The graduates of our department have found employment in various industrial fields, sucha as big companies, national research centers, governmental agencies and affiliated organizations, small and medium-sized businesses and venture businesses related to electronics and computer, broadcasting and mass media organizations, government-sponsored institutions, playing a role as a technological leader in every field.
Especially, our department helps the graduates choose career after graduation based on the vivid job-site adaptability through joint researches with above mentioned institutions during the school days at undergraduate and graduate school.
